In an article written Friday By Marissa Harshman of the Columbian

www.columbian.com

“The Washougal City Council plans to do away with a resolution pledging its commitment to revitalize downtown. But Mayor Sean Guard said the move does not mean the city is backing out if its promise to give the area a face-lift.

Instead, he said, repealing the resolution will remove restrictions on commercial businesses trying to locate in Washougal.

The resolution was passed in September 2005, when th...

Camas is not the only community soon to be saddled with steep increases in water and sewer rates. Washougal is looking at a 14% increase for the new year.

This fact has incensed some citizens. In these times of very high unemployment, huge job loss, skyrocketing health insurance rates, and recent drastic drops in property assessment values, a notice that water and sewer rates to ...

E Street Project to be Balanced with City Park Funds ????

Posted by CW Moderator on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, In : Washougal Issues

As all of you should know by now, I am opposed to the current E Street “Road Diet” plan currently proposed by the City.  If current city council votes are any indication, it appears that many of the current council are opposed to it as well.

As many of you who are interested in this project know, there is a nearly $2 million funding “gap” in this project.  In other words, the mayor appears prepared to sign contracts for the project ev...

Is Washougal planning to make the mayor position full time?

Posted by CW Moderator on Friday, September 18, 2009, In : Washougal Issues
Word on the street is there are back door meetings going on to not hire a new administrator and make Washougal's Mayor a full time position. Considering what is going on right now and the upcoming election being undecided I feel this would not be a prudent move. To even consider changing the form of government Washougal uses should be off the table until after the Nov. elections. That's just common sense. The council knows there may be new blood in both Mayor & Council and decisions af...

Some compared it to Custers Last Stand. Some called it a WWF match ready to start,  There were definitely fireworks galore

A Washougal resident, a retired Seattle cop, got up and read a statement against Lou Peterson. “Peterson, you are bad, should resign, disgrace,” etc. etc. etc. Everyone kind of cringed and shrank very small. Ugly. Very ugly.

The Sean lays out his complaint against the Mayor for gross improprieties, misuse of funds (see actual text below)

Then a couple of citizens got up ...

Washougal Councilman pleads “Not Guilty”

The alleged victim, his wife of two months, filed for divorce July 31 in Clark County Superior Court.

Peterson, 47, a two-term incumbent on the council, faces three challengers in the Aug. 18 primary.

On July 28, Peterson was arrested at the couple’s rental home, 477 I St., after his wife, R...

Dirty Tactics Hit Washougal

Posted by Web Moderator on Saturday, August 15, 2009, In : Washougal Issues

DirtyTricks

A three page anonymous letter was sent out to Washougal officials today making some pretty accusatory and libelous remarks about Washougal Mayor Stacee Sellers. It is supposedly written by a “good sized group of employees and former employees” of the city who believe the Mayor has “disgraced the city, its citizens” and her staff. Some of the accusations are as petty as running errands for the Mayor, others are as bizarre and liable as accusations about raising her son, and the Mayor...
