In  the four months of a new Port commission, the public is seeing positive efforts to move the Port forward
1) Allowed the public to comment after each item at Port meetings,
where the prior commissioners made the public wait until the end of the
meetings.

2) Moved the Port meetings to the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of each month so
they will not conflict with city council and fire district meetings.
Allows the public to attend more meetings -- if they want.

3) Held a joint meeting with the Cities of Camas & Washougal and the
Columbia River Economic Development Council to discuss how they can
better market the area. And they are having continued meetings with
these groups.

4) Holding special public meetings to obtain public input on how
they might revise the Port's strategic plan. The last time the
strategic plan underwent a major review was in 1979 -- it's long
overdue. This includes gathering information to help draft a plan to
address future needs of the industrial park, marina and airport.

5) They have submitted an application to the City of Washougal to have
the marina area including: marina park, Parkersville Historic Site,
boat ramp and boat trailer parking area rezoned from Highway Commercial
to Institutional Public. This is being done to prevent future
opportunists from trying to gain access to this property via a
back-door, back-room deal in the future.

6) Created new marketing materials and engaging professional firm to market to port.

7) Hired new legal counsel – Finally ending years of legal conflicts of interest. This alone is a great
triumph for the citizens of CW.
