Dissenting Opinions and the American Process

Our country was founded by dissenters. People left England and other European countries to escape persecution and prosecution. Some came to follow a promise of free land and others in pursuit of happiness and other is pursuit to worship their God freely. One of my ancestors, Thomas Dewey, came to America in 1640 from Englund. His offspring birthed politicians, educators, an Admiral, thinkers, farmers, and even a presidential candidate. The common denominator among many of my ancestor - many stood up for what they believed in, pushed the threshold of common thinking and dissented from the status quo.
Many Americans today still posses these same trait that push the status queue. Among loud cries against movements toward socialism, indoctrination of our children in many US schools, the forced degradation of our faith in schools and the "public square" recent events in the US have also awakened a conservative dissent among those who believe in the core values of our countries founding fathers.
We are seeing conservatives, for the first time in a very long time, stand up, and speak out against government waste. Many are speaking out against mandatory health care at the expense of the American citizen. Many are speaking out against proposed re-distribution of wealth in America. Imagine re-distributing wealth so that a gas station attendant receives as much income as the inventor of a life saving medical device. Imagine a ditch digger receiving as much income as the inventor who cures cancer. There are those that want to eliminate Capitalism from our country. Imagine, the greatest innovative country in the world - ending innovation.
What rewards would companies incentives their top talented people who have a glass ceiling on income they can earn? Imagine that you work hard for your money and the government takes %50 of your earnings? It's to unrealistic, it happens today in Ontario Canada. 50% tax rate. Yup, they receive free health care while they stand in line waiting for care.
Most Americans don't want a socialistic form of government. Do we need healthcare reform? Yes. Have they created the solution - not yet?
Should our country be focused on the healthcare issue now? NO. America has an employment challenge. Unemployment is high. We should all be focused on bring jobs back to our communities. Should we depend on the federal government to accomplish this? No. Local communities should come together, problem solve, create ideas that those local economies can do to stimulate their own economies. Its time for political and business leaders to stand up and get involved in creating solutions.
Dissenting opinions are what formed this country. healthy debate is not only and great way to communicate, innovate, and move ideas forward, it is also a inherited right as an American and a privilege many people in this world are not allowed.
Get involved locally - in your neighborhood association, citizen advisory committees - city, schools, parks, port, and local governments. Run for elected offices. Stand up; speak out for the good of the people.
