“We are endorsing these candidates because of their strong support of local business,” said Tracy Doriot, 2010 BIA President.  “These candidates have a keen understanding of the many complex issues facing our growing community and more specifically, the important issues affecting our industry,” said Doriot.    “The building industry is facing an unprecedented assault from both the Washington State Department of Ecology and the Department of Labor and Industries.  Crippling new storm water regulations and ever increasing L&I costs continue to hurt an already struggling sector of Clark County business.  We are  taking an active role in this year’s elections in order to improve the business climate not only in Clark County, but also statewide,” said Doriot. “We are proud of our mission to promote and protect the  building industry.  Endorsing candidates furthers that objective,” added Doriot.  After a candidate interview process conducted by the Building Industry Group, BIA’s Political Action Committee, the decision to endorse candidates was ratified by the BIA Board of Directors at its meeting on September 14, 2010.  The Building Industry Association of Clark County is a trade association of more than 800 members representing the interests of all businesses involved in land development and construction. BIA members come from all sectors of the building trades including bankers, plumbers, electricians, attorneys, title companies, excavators, suppliers and of course, builders.  The BIA provides member companies with  beneficial programs to grow their business including advocacy to provide a voice before government,  education opportunities, marketing of member services, a 401K program and medical and industrial insurance programs.  For more information about the BIA, log onto www.BIAofClarkCounty.org or call (360) 694-0933.
