Martha Martin, in a run for the position of ECFR commissioner was told by a sweeping majority of voters in the primaries that she wasn’t their choice to become commissioner of the ECFR. Instead,  Mike Berg was chosen by the people.

Since she wasn’t elected, now she has the chance to get the position by being appointed and has submitted her application and resume for consideration in the newly created commissioner spot.

Martin has been quite presumptively vocal at recent Port of CW and Washougal council meetings. At a recent Port meeting when Commissioner Carroll spoke at length about budgets and his “pro” position of the airport and great detail about all the meetings commissioners had attended over the past four years. This was enlightening information, especially to members of the public who promote “open and transparent government”. Yet, during the Commissioners’ speech, Martha Martin interjects from the audience calling for a “point of order” thereby disrupting and ending the commissioners speech.

Since when does someone from the public audience have the right to interrupt a commissioners meeting and a commissioner speaking?

Then, at the Washougal City Council meeting Monday night,  under the guise of “thanking Washougal for knowing how to run a sensible meeting......", she again very presumptively informed the council about the status of the Port meeting and how the vote went. It drew a few eyebrows since it had nothing to do with city business. One could easily discern she was angry that CCIA did not win out on the airport issue.

Our question - Who elected/appointed Martha as the Port Liaison to the City of Washougal? Did we miss that in the November elections?

So is all the posturing at the Port and city just in preparation for her attempt at the ECFR commissioner position?

The voters clearly didn’t want her, so why would she apply for the position?

If she is appointed, will she resign her presidency of the special interest group - CCIA?
