Washougal Mayoral candidate Sean Guard has planned a town hall meeting, open to all of the public, scheduled for Thursday October 8 at 7 PM at the Washougal Community Room.

“I have invited Mayor Sellers a number of times to sit down and discuss planning a debate or town hall meeting, but the mayor has refused to respond to recent invitations.  As a result I have planned this town hall meeting and have invited the mayor to also attend and participate.

While she has yet to respond, I am hopeful that she will realize that the public really does want a forum where both of us are in the same room and they can ask questions that are important to them in this election,” said Guard.

The current format has Guard making a very short presentation on the issues that he sees as critical to the city, followed by a question and answer period where the public will be allowed to ask any question they wish to ask.

“If the mayor decides to participate, she will be afforded the same opportunity.  If she does decide to participate, I will seek out as neutral a moderator as possible to help field the public questions,” Guard added.

The Washougal Community Center is located next to the Washougal Community Library at 1661 C Street.
