PARKER HOUSE TO EVOLVE........
Posted by CW Moderator on Tuesday, December 22, 2009
Rumors that the Parker House may become a new upscale restaurant continue to take shape.Employees were seen loading equipment out of the Parker House today and the noone was to be found during dinner hour. A dark building....a common scene to old timers of the CW area. The evolution of the Parker House would require a very “complete” remodel with leaving almost nothing of the old structure in place, but constructed with a taller edifice and one fully taking into consideration this outstanding location.
This would be a HUGE boon to Washougal’s sagging tax economy and if done properly would equally boost near by Camas. Not only would this provide the local residents of Washougal and Camas with a high quality-eating establishment but, if it would become as popular as Salty’s in Portland and Seattle, would quickly become a destination entertainment port-of-call for Portlanders and naturally of Fort Vancouver as well. This could be a huge move for our local waterfront scene.
Would the Port of Washougal embrace this move and work with the new owners 110%? We would think so……………. But would this come at cross-purpose to the CCIA, who is so heavily involved in our local government and our political scene now?
How would the other restaurants in our area regard this move? Naturally any competition that might pull away from the meager market share might be viewed with disdain. However, maybe the other restaurants might believe to add a really first class establishment, one of this nature, might prove all-in to be a good thing?
Without a doubt the new Best Western Hotel, newly constructed directly in front of the old Parker House edifice, would be one that might benefit most of all! All the guests there would have an easy walk to a really fine restaurant to compliment their stay.
